Question: Describe the basic construction and parts of a Transformer?
The basic construction of transformer involves two coils of wire that are wrapped around a ferromagnetic core.
The figure below shows a transformer cut in half and showing its core and windings:

Note that the transformer has two windings namely:
- Primary windings
- Secondary windings
And a core. Note that the core of transformer is laminated (made of thin sheets) in order to reduce Eddy current losses.
